BACKGROUND:
Due to shortages of trained personnel in the Waffen-SS, Himmler, following the Army’s lead, developed a specialist group of personnel entitled, SS-Sonderführer/ Sonderunterführer. (Special Officer/NCO), for specific duties in November 1941. These personnel were given positions and performed duties equivalent to NCO or Officer’s ranks. In June 1942 the position titles were changed to SS-Fachführer/Fachunterführer (Specialist Officer/NCO) and new rank insignia was introduced. New duty assignment sleeve diamonds for these personnel were introduced on December 1ST 1942. This badge was designed for personnel assigned to SS-Rasse und Siedlungs Hauptamt. (Race and Resettlement Central Office).PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Black wool diamond base with machine embroidered eagle atop a swastika in silver/grey threads.
