BACKGROUND: SS Officer’s shoulder boards in the army pattern were first introduced in March 1938, with the colored branch of service waffenfarbe introduced in December 1939. Ranks of SS Brigadeführer and above utilized a light grey waffenfarbe not related to the branch of service colors. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Slip on shoulder boards of two gilt bullion and one silver/aluminum interwoven braids on a light grey wool base. Narrow slip on tongues in the same light grey wool intact. Boards signifies rank of SS Brigadeführer which was equivalent to the army rank of Generalmajor.
