BACKGROUND: First introduced in 1934 the, "SS Leitheft", (SS Leading Booklet), was an official monthly booklet of the SS published by the SS-Hauptamt , (SS Central Office), under direction of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. The booklets were printed by the SS’s own publishing house in Berlin and were intended to be light hearted, relaxation reading and covered a wide variety of topics.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A roughly 23cm x 16cm, soft cover, 36 page booklet with a mid-weight, black cardstock cover with white printed script, ‘SS Leitheft 8. Jahrgang - Heft 4, 1942' (SS Leading Booklet, 8th Year, 4th Bulletin, 1942). The booklet contains assorted stories, photos and articles. The spine shows wear, along with some tearing to the front and rear covers.
