S001195 SS TYPEWRITER. (Schreibmaschine)

SS fifty key manual lever portable typewriter. Typewriter features a sheet metal and aluminum housing with a matte grey painted finish. Housing also has manufacturers decal, "Olympia" in silver. All forty nine black bakelite keys have white recessed letter, numerical, or symbol markings while the space bar is blank. The SS keyboard varies from the standard German keyboard with addition of the SS runes. The keyboard also varies from the standard English keyboard with a different layout of the lettering, and the addition of the of the umlauted letters, Ä, Ö, and Ü as well as the stylized dual "S" represented as ß, and the interwoven "S" symbol § representing Reichsmarks. Other keys include one scripted, "Aus/Löser", roughly translating as on/off, and a key labeled "Fest", roughly translating as lock. Both "shift" keys are marked with a large "U" for Umschalttaste, (shift). All keys still function overall with some sticking. The original inked ribbon intact. The lid that protects the ribbon is missing.
