N066959 CIVIL MINING ASSOCIATION MEMBER'S BELT BUCKLE. (Koppelschloß)
BACKGROUND: As a direct result of the institution of the "Four-Year Plan" for German economic self sufficiency, announced in September 1936, the NSDAP established a National Bureau of Mines, (Bergbau), in October 1936 to oversee mining functions and distribution of essential raw materials. The Bergbau consisted of all previously organized State and Individual Mining Associations and was coordinated by the newly established Berghoheitsverwaltung, (Superior Mine Administration).
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Circa 1900-1945 Mining Association example. The plain, tombak construction buckle measures 92mm x 48mm (for the standard size 45mm belt). Affixed to the front are a crossed hammer and pick in nickel/silver. Complete with braised catch and original double prong bar. Unmarked. Very nice example.
