BACKGROUND: Allegedly the first pattern Third Reich political national eagle was personally designed by Adolf Hitler himself and was introduced on November 4TH 1927. Originally the first pattern eagle was worn on the Kepi by SA and SS personnel and wasn’t adopted for wear by NSDAP political leaders until 1931. Of Note: This first pattern, political national eagle was replaced in January 1934 with a new, slightly modified eagle. The political style national eagle was further modified in 1936, again in 1937 and a final pattern was introduced April 1939.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: An early, stamped alloy eagle, whose outstretched wings have a span of 37mm, and which clutches a wreathed, mobile swastika in its talons. The swastika is highlighted by its recesses having been painted black. One prong is missing. This style eagle was worn by members of the Nazi Party, the SA and the SS until 1934.
