N041486 "DEUTSCHES FRAUENSHAFT" MEMBERSHIP BADGE. (Mitgliedabzeichen)

BACKGROUND: The "Deutsches Frauenwerk" (German Women’s-welfare-organization) was established in September 1933, eventually being absorbed into the "NS Frauenschaft" (National Socialist Women’s-organization). Members were issued lapel badges to distinguish them, this example being a first pattern members’ badge for non-NSDAP personnel.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The alloy badge takes the form of a 23mm tall inverted triangle whose top edge is 24mm wide. It features a black enameled central field, edged in silver, upon which is a silver washed mobile sunwheel swastika above a "Leben-rune" (Life-rune). The top silvered edge of the badge is wider than the sides and features the red enameled Gothic script, "Deutsches Frauenshaft." Reverse is marked RZM M1/128 for "Eugen Schmidhäussler, Pforzheim".
