BACKGROUND: Members HJ/BDM medical units went through a an extensive period of training (6 weeks). If the training was successfully completed, they were granted the privilege to wear Medical Orderly’s badge. The badge went through a series of three changes through the years. 1st pattern (white cross on a red, round field), 2nd pattern was the typical snake & staff insignia (yellow on a dark blue oval backing) and finally the 3rd pattern (red life rune on a white oval field).

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Very nice example of a hard to find 3rd pattern badge. Machine woven red life rune on a white oval field. Piped in alternating green and white for Gefolgschaftsfeldscher. Original HJ/RZM tag is present. Rare.
