N035774 1931 2nd PATTERN SA TREFFEN/BRAUNSCHWEIG BADGE.
(Abzeichen des SA-Treffens Braunschweig 1931)BACKGROUND: As with most rallies and events of the period the SA rally hosted by SA-Gruppe Nord at Brunswick on October 17TH and 18TH 1931, issued a badge to commemorate the event. These badges were typical of the period and were normally cheaply made and only worn during the event. On November 6TH 1936 Hitler elevated this rally badge to the status of an National honor award, as the third NSDAP rally badge to gain such a distinction. After the badge’s elevation to National status it was manufactured again with slight variations to the original rally badges.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Second pattern, injection molded alloy, solid backed badge. Badge features an embossed, vertically oval oak-leaf wreath with an early political style eagle to top and bow to bottom encompassing a plain field with embossed script, "S-A Treffen Braunschweig 17/18 Oktober 1931.". Badge is roughly 51mm tall and 36mm wide. Reverse has an embossed RZM logo with manufacturers code"M1/35", indicating manufacture by for Wachtler & Lange Mittweida. Reverse also has embossed script, "Ges. Gesch." indicating Gesetzlich Geschützt (Protected by Law). Pin back device secured by dual crimped depressions intact.
