N035677 SOLDATENBUND MEMBER'S BREAST EAGLE. (Hoheitsabzeichen)

BACKGROUND: The Registered Soldier’s League (Soldatenbund, created in 1936, it was incorporated into the NS-RKB in 1938. A fairly short lived organization.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped alloy, silver-washed eagle, whose spread wings have a span of 95mm, with a wreathed, mobile swastika in its talons, and a Iron Cross to its breast (with black painted center), behind which are crossed swords. A horizontal pin-back device, with a hinge and catch, is to its hollow-backed reverse. "Ges." is embossed to the reverse of one of the eagle's wings, and "Gesch.," to the other, for "Gesetzlich Geschützt" (By-law Protected). Fairly hard eagle to find.
