N034091 BAHNSCHUTZPOLIZEI SHOULDER BOARD. (Schulterstück)
BACKGROUND: The Bahnschutzepolizei, (Railway Protection Police), were established, by the RBD in 1933 with volunteers from the SA and SS, to protect the railway network. Originally they wore a navy blue uniform, but this was eventually changed to blue/grey circa 1941.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Slip on shoulder board features dual, outer edge, bright silver/aluminum Russian braid with evenly spaced, interwoven black "V"s, encompassing dual, inner, purple/blue braids interwoven with dual bright silver/aluminum Russian braid with evenly spaced, interwoven black "V"s, mounted on an black wool truppenfarbe base. Silver-washed winged railway insignia and double rank pips. Glue spots to the reverse indicating it was most probably in a scrap book at some point.
