N033590 GERMAN HORSE DRIVER'S BADGE IN SILVER. (Deutsches Fahrer Abzeichen)

BACKGROUND: Introduced by the German National Federation for the Breeding and Testing of Thoroughbreds, in May 1930. The badge was awarded in thee classes with different qualifications, one of which was that the lower grade badge must be awarded before being eligible for a higher grade. Less than 17,500 of these badges were awarded between 1931 and 1942.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Die struck zinc, hollow backed badge with a silver wash. Badge in the form of an oval oak-leaf wreath encompassing two horses drawing a manned chariot. Bottom of wreath has the letter, "R" encompassed in a circle. The reverse has a crimped soldered hinge a thin round vertical pin and a soldered catch inset n a circular base plate all intact. Maker marked to "L. Chr. Lauer Nürnberg-Berlin".
