BACKGROUND: The "Reichsnährstand" (National-food-estate) was established in September of 1933 by a regrouping of all land workers, and was responsible for controlling production, marketing, distribution and rationing of the Reich’s food supply. It worked closely with other organizations, including the "HJ Landjahr" (Hitler Youth Land-year) and "Landdienst" (Land-service), and was involved with the "Deutsche Arbeitsfront" (German Labor-front), but was not a part of it.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 18mm square Reichsnährstand members lapel pin. In the form of a canted swastika with sheaf of wheat and a roman style broadsword superimposed on a diagonal angle to the arms of the swastika. Complete with original pin. Maker marked "Deschler u.s. Münch".
