N025391 NSDAP POLITICAL FLAG-BEARER'S GORGET CHAIN/PARTS. (Ringkragenkette)
BACKGROUND: Although the organization of Political Leaders was one of the oldest organizations of the Nazi Party, it was among the last to be awarded its two gorgets. The flag-bearer gorget, worn at all functions when bearing the unit flag, and the "Streifendienst" (Patrol-service) gorget, worn by those so employed at party functions, were first introduced in April of 1939. The same chain was utilized with both gorgets.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Stamped, bronze plated alloy links, each connected through perforations to the other’s corners by bronze wire loops, and with a squared, bronze attachment loop to either end. The central link has, to its raised-border obverse, a mobile swastika between two sprays of oak leaves, and each second link proceeding from either side of it repeats the image. The links between the aforementioned each have a stylized eagle and swastika, oriented in one direction to the left of the central link, and to the other direction to the right of it. Chain is separated into three sections. Total of 21 links. The smallest section of 3 links are attached incorrectly and the links are not correct, but the two larger sections have the popper connectors with original attachment. Maker marked M1/128. Perfect for a Gorget restoration.
