N023058 1937 "OST-HANNOVER" PROVINCIAL DAY BADGE. (Gautag Abzeichen)
A 1 1/2" diameter badge, in russet-brown colored "lederplatik" (literally, leather-plastic), to whose obverse is an eagle with down-swept wings and a wreathed, mobile swastika in its talons, across whose breast crosses two stylized horse heads. Around the image scrolls "Gautag Ost-Hannover Der NSDAP 1937" (Provincial-day East-Hannover [of] The NSDAP 1937). A pin-back device is glued to its reverse, around which may be seen an ink stamp reading "EFO Lederplastik" and "D.R.G.M." ("Deutsche Reichs Gebrauchsmuster," or, German National Registered-design), followed by the manufacturer‘s name, "E.O. Friedrich," and location, "Leipzig." Light age soiling is evident throughout, and its pin-back device appears to have been re-glued.
