BACKGROUND: Officially introduced in August of 1935, the cockade was worn on the front center band of the Political Leaders visor cap. In 1939 a new regulation, added a gilt wreath around the cockade.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: First pattern political visor cap cockade is comprised of a fluted, black back plate, 22mm in diameter, upon which is mounted a 5mm tall, 18mm diameter, silver-aluminum double wreath with a similarly-colored mobile swastika to its center. Through the cut-out arms of the swastika may be seen a red felt backing to the interior. The silver-aluminum assembly is fixed by four extended tabs which pass through perforations of the back plate and are subsequently crimped. Hard to find.
