BACKGROUND: The DRA, "Deutsches Reichssportabzeichen" (German National-sport-badge), established the RJA, "Reichsjugendsportabzeichen" (National-youth-sport-badge) in 1925 for children under the age of 18. Awarded only in silver, it was extended to females in 1928, and a swastika was added to the badge in 1937. The award was discontinued in 1942.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A single sided "Permanent swimming certificate" and a "RJA" (Reichsjugendsportabzeichen" Achievement Book with a small black and white photograph of the owner. Both belong to the same person.
