N009390 HJ/DJ SUMMER SHORTS. (HJ Sommer Diensthose)

BACKGROUND: The service shorts of the Hitler youth where worn from the organization institution all the way through to it end in 1945. The first summer shorts from where to be in tan/brown as of the 1933 orders. The color of the shorts changed to black as of the 1935 regulation.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Black cotton twill shorts, introduced in 1935, which feature a four button French fly, with an additional button and buttonhole at the waist, diagonal slash hip pockets, a pair of horizontal slash pockets and dual button down patch pocket to the reverse. All of the buttons are the "dish" variety, of black bakelite, and all have "HJ/DJ" embossed along their circumferences. The interior waistband, crotch, and pocket bags are of white cotton/rayon. All six buttons are missing to the interior waistband. A loop, of the same material as the lining, is sewn beneath the central reverse of the waistband. Approximately a size 34" waist, and are 17" (44cm) long in overall length. Show usage and wear.
