BACKGROUND: The NSDStB, "National Sozialistische Deutscher Studentenbund" (National Socialist German Students’-league) was originally formed as a semi-autonomous organization in 1926, infiltrating the majority of institutions by 1930, and was under full control of the Nazi Party by 1934.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A cast alloy lapel pin, in the form of an elongated diamond, 23mm tall and 15mm wide, within which is a mobile swastika. Never had any paint applied. A vertical pin-back device is to its reverse, underneath one end of which is an embossed RZM logo, and "M1/63,".is embossed near its other end.
