German Order of the German Eagle Merit Cross with Star. Breast star in silver, the center finely enameled, the national eagles gilded. On the reverse with narrow pin, the backplate marked “SILBER 800”. The neck cross, silver gilt, finely enameled on both sides. Marked “900” silver in the lower arm of the cross. With the long neck ribbon with drawstrings. Complete in the large light red presentation case, approximately 24x16x3 cm, with large gilded national eagle in the early version, still without gold border, interior with black velvet insert and white silk lining with imprint “Orden vom Deutschen Adler Verdienstkreuz mit Stern”. 
The 1st Model was only awarded until 1939 in very small numbers and is extremely rare. Three awards. Original presentation case. Information on the original recipient. Ex John Burchell Collection.
