N002795 RAD OFFICER’S BREECHES.

BACKGROUND: The basis of the Reichsarbeitsdienst (National Labor Service) dates back, at least, to 1929 with the formation of the AAD (Anhalt Arbeitsdienst) and the FAD B (Freiwillingen Arbeitsdienst Bayern). Shortly after Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor, (February 1933) the NSDAP consolidated these, and other labor organizations into the NSAD (Nationalsozialist Arbeitsdienst) a national labor service. In June 1935 the NSAD was re designated RAD. On its inception RAD personnel retained the previously used NSAD uniform.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice pair of RAD, private purchase, riding breaches. All buttons look to be present with original stitching. Breaches are approximately 29" to 30". Some corrosion to the leg grommets, but otherwise fine. Nice set.
