C25255 ITALIAN M1931 FIELD DRESSING.
BACKGROUND:
In March 1919 Benito Mussolini established the, Fascio di Combattimento, (Union of Combatants), political party in Milan and fascism was born in Italy and following the infamous "March on Rome", on October 28TH 1922 Mussolini became the supreme leader of the country. On May 22ND 1939 Mussolini’s Italy and Hitler’s Germany signed the "Pact of Steel" linking their countries destinies together in the upcoming war. As with the other nations individuals serving in the Italian armed forces were issued a personal wound field dressing to be carried with their personal equipment.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 3 3/4" x 2 3/8" x 3/4", Italian M1931 individual issue wound field dressing with an unbleached tan paper wrapping with green, tan and red printed script. The printed Italian script includes, "R. Esercito Italiano Pacchetto da medicazione indivduale", (REGIO ESERCITO = Royal Army), opening and usage instructions, the designation, "Mod. 1931", and a red cross emblem. The field dressing still has original opening pull string intact. The field dressing is in overall good condition with moderate age yellowing. Neat Italian medical accessory.
