C078287 THE DELHI DURBAR MEDAL 1911.

BACKGROUND: Issued to commemorate the celebration of King George V's Coronation in British India in December 1911, the Delhi Durbar Medal was awarded to the men and officers of the British regiments who were present although only about a quarter of them actually received the medal.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: To the obverse of this 32mm diameter, silver, medal show the crowned busts of King George V and Queen Mary within a laurel and rose wreath. To the reverse, in Persian script is "Deli 1911" surrounded by " The Durbar of George V, Emperor of India, Master of the British Lands". To the top, threaded through the suspension ring, is a ribbon which is blue with two central red stripes.
