C078083 "R.A.A.F." CAP BADGE.
BACKGROUND: The Royal Australian Air Force, as a part of the British Empire, in 1911 approved the establishment of the Central Flying School to aid in the development of aviation within the armed forces. At this time, they were known as The Australian Flying Corps and it was not until 1921 that the prefix "Royal" was attached. The RAAF became the second Royal air arm to be formed within the British Commonwealth.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped, blackened brass cap badge measuring approximately 4cm x 4.5cm with two lugs to the reverse that is a mirror image of the front. Manufacture markings to the reverse. The lugs have been flattened.
