C072884 WWII RHODESIA REGIMENT BADGE.

Hand cut "RR" (Rhodesia Regiment) dates to late 1930’s. The Rhodesia Regiment was posted in small groups to many British units out of concern that heavy losses in action to the full unit could have devastating consequences at home in Rhodesia, since it was the only Crown military unit in the country. By scattering the Rhodesia Regiment men in smaller numbers to many of the British Regiments in the 8th Army in North Africa, British authorities hoped to avoid heavy losses to the Rhodesian men all at one time. Rare, worn in North Africa. The badge measures approximately 3cm x 2cm with lugs to the reverse. Most probably worn on shoulder strap.
