C065284 RAF "J.E.A. BALDWIN" (DSO) AIR COMMODORE FULL DRESS JACKET.
A blue/grey high quality private purchase dress jacket with a seven brass button front that heads to a standup collar with a pair of heavy hooks and eyelets. The collar features gold bullion design of oak leaves and acorns that extends the entire collar which is trimmed in gold lace. The integral button shoulder straps feature a laurel wreath embroidered to the material around the brass button, as well as a padded bullion and velvet Kings Crown above an albatross. A 11cm long RAF wing is sewn above the left breast which features four thread loops for medals. Each cuff features a 5cm or 2" wide gold bullion lace rank which represents the rank of Air Commodore. It can be seen where a stripe had been removed. There are a pair of matching buttons sewn above the seam of the skirt to the reverse and features a brass belt hook to each side seam. The interior if full lined in white cotton with a manufacture label sewn to the interior of the neck which features the manufacture name of J.B.Johnson Ltd., London & Dublin, along with the name "Group Capt. J.E.A. Baldwin, R.KA.F. DSO OBE along with a date "15.2.32". The chest measures approximately 38". Of Note: John Eustace Arthur Baldwin received the Distinguished Service Order on June 3, 1918, the Order of the British Empire on June 3,1919, the rank of Group Captain on July 1, 1929 and Air Commodore on January 1, 1933.
