C052475 POST-WAR ROYAL CANADIAN ARMOURED CORPS SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: Every infantry or armored regiment had its own insignia. The Royal Canadian Armoured Corps can trace its beginnings back to 1918 when the Canadian Tank Corps was formed by a transfer of tank battalions from Canadian Machine Gun Corps. In 1940 the Canadian Armoured Corps was formed to encompass all the existing armoured regiment. In August of 1945 they became the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 9cm x 3cm, machine stitched shoulder flash in red thread on a tan wool background. The shoulder flash still retains its canvas backing.
