C047988 WWII CANADIAN 48 HIGHLANDERS CAP BADGE.

BACKGROUND: Every infantry or armored regiment had its own insignia. Cap badges were usually made of white metal, brass, copper or bi-metal. Most commonly brass and white metal were used. Officers were sometimes known to wear private purchase cap badges made of silver or silver bullion. The 48th Highlanders were formed in 1891 and have participated in the life of it’s parent city, Toronto, from the beginning. Ever since it’s inception the men and women of the 48th Highlanders have been the first to step forward to answer their country’s call. The regiment's service has included both the World Wars, the Boer War, Operation Recuperation, the Golan Heights, Korea, South Africa, Cambodia, Cyprus, and Bosnia to name a few.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 5.5cm in diameter badge with garter/buckle. A pair of lugs are to the reverse. Unmarked.
