C046188 "THE MIDLAND REGIMENT" CAP BADGE.

Formed in 1936 through the amalgamation of the Northumberland and Durham Regiment. In 1954 they were absorbed by the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. This brass stamped badge measures approximately 5.5cm x 5.5cm that features a King’s crown surmounting a stylized belt with the motto of the Order of the Garter "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" (Evil To Him That Evil Thinks) embossed upon it with the profile of a beaver with "The Midland Regiment" inscribed on a scroll beneath. The bottom scroll is inscribed with the Regiments motto "Semper Paratus" which is Latin for "Always Ready." The background consists of an eight-pointed, radiating star, with its top point obscured by the King’s crown. The reverse is a mirror image of the front which has double prongs and a cotter pin. A small square section of red wool is to the background.
