BACKGROUND: The roots of the RCA go back as far as 1793 to "The Loyal Company" formed in Saint John New Brunswick as the longest unbroken service in the artillery regiment. Originally, in 1832, King William IV allowed the Royal Regiment the right to wear the Royal arms and supporter over a cannon with the combined motto "Ubique Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt" (Everywhere Whiter Right and Glory Lead) which later the Canadian Artillery was granted the authorization to use "Canada" in place of "Ubieque." It was not until after WWI the RCA, in recognition of distinguished overseas service, asked once again to use "Ubique" and was given permission by King George V. in 1926.

PHYSICAL BACKGROUND: A maple leaf shaped badge with a Kings Crown to the top of "Canada" with a cannon and a wheel being central and "Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt" are printed on scrolls at the bottom.. Two lugs are present on the flat back. Each lug looks to have been repaired or replaced. The badge measures approximately 3cm x 3cm.
