BACKGROUND:
Cap badges were usually made of white metal, brass, copper or bi-metal. Most commonly brass and white metal were used. Officers were sometimes known to wear private purchase cap badges made of silver or silver bullion.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A brass cap badge in the form of a wreath of laurel leaves encompassing a stylized "RAF" with a Queen’s crown to the top. To the reverse are two prongs. Badge measures approximately 40mm x 47mm.
