C043092 BRITISH/COMMONWEALTH CASED 1939-45 WAR MEDAL.
A 3.5cm diameter, silver medal, to whose upper edge is riveted the base of a horizontal bar for its red-dark blue-narrow white-narrow red-narrow white-dark blue-red ribbon. To the obverse of the medal is a crowned, left facing, profile portrait of George VI surrounded by the embossed inscription "Georgius VI D:G:Br:Omn:Rex Et Indiae Imp:" To the reverse are the dates "1939" and "1945" above a Lion standing triumphantly atop a subdued, double eagle-headed beast with claws and a rat’s tail. "E.C.r.P." is embossed to the left of the reverse image, and "P.M." may be seen to the base of the King’s neck to the obverse. Awarded for twenty-eight days’ service in an operational sector. Included is the two piece, cardboard constructed box with friction top. It is stamped to the lid "War Medal 39-45."
