BACKGROUND: The 8th Battalion (90th Winnipeg Rifles), CEF served in the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. The battalion saw some of the heaviest fighting in World War I, distinguishing itself at battles such as Ypres, the Somme, Vimy, Passchendaele, Amiens, Arras and Cambrai. Three members of the 8th battalion were awarded Canada's highest honour for gallantry in the face of the enemy, the Victoria Cross. (WiKi)

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The grouping included tunic, cap and breeches. Khaki, private purchase tunic featuring a four button front, lay down collar and integral, button shoulder straps. Buttons are the leather covered type. Cuff rank insignia for a 2nd Lieutenant. Winnipeg Rifles collar dogs and brass Canada flashes. A non pleated, button scallop flap pocket is to each breast, as well as larger, straight flapped button hip pockets. Chest size is roughly a 36". Also comes with an original officers cap with original cap badge buttons and leather chinstrap. Cap is roughly a size 56. Also included are a pair original breeches which are roughly a 30" waist. Breeches are complete and in nice condition.
