C039982 WW2 BRITISH DESERT SAND OVERSHOES.

WW2 British Desert Sand Overshoes. RARE pair of matching WW2 British tropical desert overshoes designed to be worn like galoshes over ammunition boots or other footwear. Sturdy khaki-green canvas and leather construction, with leather soles showing wear but intact with no holes. Three brown leather straps converge at the instep of the foot to be secured by boot laces. An old collector's identification paper tag from the 1950's suggests Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) or SAS use but I have seen no photographic evidence to support that possibility. These may have been worn with thick socks as sandals as well. Marked size 11 on both overshoes. Very rare.
