C037367 U.S. M1910 CANTEEN & COVER.
A one quart capacity canteen and tan canvas cover. The aluminum canteen is slightly concave to its reverse and retains its aluminum screw cap, attached between its top and an alloy collar around its neck by a short alloy chain. A brazing line may be seen running along both sides and underneath the canteen. Embossed to one side is "U.S.", "L.F. & C" and "1919." The bottom of the canteen, as well as the concave surface, has the initials "G.F." scratched into the surface. Its light olive drab canvas cover has felt padding to its interior and two extended flaps rising from the back of its open top, with Lift the Dot fasteners. Seven vertical reinforcing stitching lines to the obverse with a faint U.S. marking. Manufacture stamp is present on the reverse of the cover "J.Q. M.D." with a date. The cover is moderate/heavily age and usage soiled, with color fading, but is intact with all of its original stitching. The aluminum canteen itself exhibits heavy usage and wear with denting and surface scratches. Overall, an obviously well used but otherwise complete and serviceable example.
