C037291 ROYAL CANADIAN ARMY SERVICE CORPS CAP BADGE.

BACKGROUND: Every infantry or armored regiment had its own insignia. Cap badges were usually made of white metal, brass, copper or bi-metal. Most commonly brass and white metal were used. Officers were sometimes known to wear private purchase cap badges made of silver or silver bullion.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 4.5cm diameter stamped brass cap badge which features a King’s crown surmounting a stylized belt with "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" (Evil To Him That Evil Thinks) embossed upon it, the belt encircling the monogram "GR VI," with a wreath of Maple leaves to either side of the crown at the top and a scroll below inscribed with "Royal Canadian Army Service Corps" all overlaid on an eight-pointed, radiating star, with its top point obscured by the King’s crown. The reverse is a mirror image of the obverse which has double prongs and a cotter retaining pin that sits on a yellow wool backing.
