C035291 U.S. M1910 HAVERSACK & MEAT CAN POUCH.

The M1910 Haversack (or Doughboy pack) is made of a khaki webbing with blackened brass that folds out into three main sections. To the bottom, essential items such as rations, condiment can, bacon can, clean socks, towel and washing kit were placed where it was then folded into the main section of the sack that has three straps and buckles to secure these items. To the bottom of this section are eight "button holes" where a carrier pack would be attached by a piece of leather. The interior is stamped "Long 9-18". Double stitched to the reverse are shoulder straps that attach to a belt by blackened brass spring clip. Buckles are present to adjust for length. The "meat can" pouch, attached to the outer flap of the haversack, contains the "meat can" or "mess can" along with a knife, fork, spoon set. The pouch measures approximately 20cm square with a blackened brass friction buckle and strap. The webbing shows light usage and wear with the exception of a stain to the interior.
