A black silk ribbon with silver embossed lettering and wire fringe that is attached to a "Grand Army of the Republic" bar from which is suspended a light weight painted medallion. The ribbon has a horizontal tear that is not completely across, but has caused the ribbon to become fragile at the bottom. The ribbon measures approximately 6cm x 21cm (including fringe). A simple spring pin is to the reverse of the bar.
