C030789 "CARLETON & YORK CANADA" SHOULDER FLASHES.

BACKGROUND: Formed in 1937 with headquarters in St. Stephen NB, through the amalgamation of "The Carleton Light Infantry" and "The York Regiment." It was divided into four companies: (A) Fredericton, (B) Woodstock, (C) St. Stephen and (D) Edmundston. In 1939 they reorganized for war with the forming of the 1st Battalion (1939-1945) and 2nd Battalion formed in Reserve Army. In 1954 they amalgamated with "The New Brunswick Scottish" to form "1st Battalion (The New Brunswick Regiment (Carleton and York).

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A pair of melton, machine stitched red wool with blue lettering "Carleton & York" atop "Canada". British manufactured.
