C029993 WWI BRITISH/CANADIAN "Named" HOLSTER.

BACKGROUND: The Webley MKIV .455 revolver was known as the "Boer War" Model due to the large quantities of officers who purchased them on the way to partake in the conflict. During WWI the MkVI became the standard sidearm for British and Commonwealth troops as was distributed to all arms of the military.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A brown leather holster approximately 33cm long that tapers from 15.5cm to a 4cm diameter bottom. A double stitch seam holds the one piece construction in place with a separate circular bottom stitched to the main body. A brass stud on the fold over flap corresponds with one of two holes to the flap. A pair of brass "D" rings are secured to the reverse. The handwritten name of ""G.W. Painter" is handwritten under the flap. The leather is in very fine condition.
