C029992 VIETNAM WAR CAMOUFLAGE BERET.
Original Vietnam War production camouflage beret in ERDL pattern. The ERDL pattern, also known as the Leaf pattern, is a camouflage pattern developed by the United States Army at its Engineer Research & Development Laboratories (ERDL) in 1948. It was not used until the Vietnam War, when it was first issued to elite reconnaissance and special operations units beginning early 1967. As the war progressed, they were adopted by many different soldiers. Size tag 59 present. Circular type shoestring drawstring with reinforced tips. Not Vietnamese made -- probably Japanese or Korean made. Three piece construction, you can see where a circular insignia was sewn to the front and has been removed. Printed on one side only. Nice original, excellent condition.
