C027693 BRITISH MKII HELMET "Raw Edge".

BACKGROUND: The standard British Infantry helmet, as used throughout World War II, being a modification of the Mk. I helmet introduced in April of 1916 and used during the First World War. Production of the MK II helmet began in 1938 and the first units were delivered to the armed forces in 1939. The helmet retained its predecessor’s shape but improved the steel, liner and chin strap.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: During early 1941 BMB (Briggs Motor Bodies) produced rimless Mk2's. Designed to be ordinary Mk2 No.1's, (for use by the Military) but as there was a shortage of helmets for the Home guard & the ARP it was agreed this would be a quick way to fill that gap. Excellent original paint. Nice complete liner and chinstrap. Liner marked "FA 1941 II 7 1/4". Shell marked "I BMB 1941 K3". Excellent example.
