C025191 U.S. M1910 CANTEEN & COVER.

A one quart capacity canteen and tan canvas cover. The aluminum canteen is slightly concave to its reverse and retains its aluminum screw cap, attached between its top and an alloy collar around its neck by a short alloy chain. A brazing line may be seen running along both sides and underneath the canteen. The canteen is marked "U.S.-1918-T" "J.W.B.M. Co." A handwritten name of "V. Simeone" is in marker to the bottom to the body of the canteen. The cup is also marked to the bottom "U.S." "L.F & C. 1918". ts light olive drab canvas cover has felt padding to its interior and two extended flaps rising from the back of its open top, each of which have a stud-holed snap which mates with a corresponding stud to the upper body of the cover. The snaps and studs are of blackened brass. Stamped inside the right flap is manufacture marked, along with a 1917 date. The name "Simeone " is also present under the left flap, as well as, to the rear panel. Seven vertical reinforcing stitching lines to the obverse may faintly be seen a "U.S." ink stamp. The vertical webbed canvas loop sewn to the reverse has a horizontal brass belt hook fed through it. Of Note: Ancestry lists a "Vinzenso Simeone" as serving in France with the CO. B. 319th Infantry, 80th Division who saw action at San Michael and the Meuse-Argonne. He was born in Spignio-Satrunia, Province of Caserta, Italy.
