C024793 M1938 FRENCH FIELD UNIFORM GROUPING.
This grouping consists of a M1938 wool tunic with matching trousers. The tunic has a five "rounded" button front that leads to a lay down collar with a pair of hooks and eyelets at the neck opening. A pair of button shoulder straps are to each side of the collar. Hip pockets and French cuffs complete the construction of the tunic. A pair of badges are to each collar point that represent Fortress Units of the Alps (three passepoil or piping to the top of the badge). The interior is lined in a white linen that bear various cartouches or stamping that includes a date stamp of 1939 and chest measurements of 96 cm or 38". A pair of black painted belt hooks are to each side seam. There is a tear to the left wearing shoulder/arm seam, as well as a hole to the left side panel. The matching trousers have a three button French fly, with an additional two buttons at the waist, four wool belt loops and six buttons along the exterior of the waistband for the attachment of suspenders. The trousers are un-lined with the exception of the waistband that shows various ink stamps. The waist measures approximately 32" with a 35" breech. To each leg is a friction buckle adjustment strap, as well as seven, reinforced stitched holes for laces. Nice seam.
