BACKGROUND: The Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry was formed at the start of WWI with headquarters in Edmonton Alberta. It was created by Captain Andrew Hamilton Gault when he offered $100,000 of is own money to finance and equip a battalion to contribute in Canada’s war effort. They were officially authorized by the government on August 10, 1914. The regiment is named after Duke of Connaught’s daughter who designed and hand made the regimental colors. The P.P.C.L.I is one of the most decorated regiments in the Canadian Forces.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped gilt alloy badge measuring approximately 4cm x 3cm with a pair of lugs to the reverse.
