Throughout the Fascist regime, Mussolini encouraged families to have as many children as they possibly could. One of the ways in which they rewarded a bigger family, was by handing out these Italian Fascist mother’s medal. This medal is 15cm long by 4cm wide at the ribbon and 37mm at the medal. The ribbon is a dark taupe green with 2 vertical navy blue lines on both edge. There are seven aluminum bows that descend the ribbon. Each one represents a child. The face of the medal, which is made of metal, it of a mother surrounded by her seven children, with Unione Fascista Famiglie Numerose engraved. On the back the design bears a Stylized M, with columns. The ribbon shows light fading.
