C023892 1922 PATTERN "WORCESTERSHIRE SERGEANT’S UNIFORM GROUPING.

Often referred to as "1922 Pattern" by collectors, this particular tunic is the wartime austerity pattern which features plain patch pockets on the chest rather than the pre and post war patterns which have pleats. Aside from this detail the tunic is more-or-less unchanged from the earlier pattern. This grouping consists of a service tunic, trousers and wool puttees. The service tunic has a five, brass button front that leads to a lay down collar with a pair of hooks and eyelets. A pair of integral button shoulder straps are to each side of the neck that bear brass "Worcestershire" shoulder tiles. A pair of pleated breast pockets with button flaps and hip pockets, also with button flaps, completes the front of the tunic. All brass buttons are "General List" buttons. Each arm bears chevrons denoting the rank of Sergeant. The left wearing arm also bears a Marksman badge above a good conduct chevron and a wire wound badge. The interior has a "W" "D" ink stamp along with a broad arrow, as well as a white label with the size, measurements, manufacture and a date of 1942. A pair of brass belt hooks are to each side seam. The service trousers have a four button French fly, with an additional button at the waist and six buttons that extend the exterior of the waist band to accommodate suspenders/Y straps. A pair of vertical slash pockets are to each hip. A "W" "D" stamp, along with broad arrow is stamped to the interior. The waist measures approximately 31" with a 29" inseam. They have a very nice pressed seam. Also included, are a pair of wool puttees with HBT tapes.
