C023293 NORWEGIAN LABOR SERVICE, FEMALE SVEIT FORER'S RANK BROOCH.
BACKGROUND: The Norwegian "Nasjonal Samling" (National Unity) party instituted a compulsory labor service, based on the German "Reichsarbeitsdienst" (National-labor-service), in September of 1940. It was designated "Arbeids-Tjenesten" (Labor Service), and they wore uniforms similar to those previously worn by the Norwegian army, with rank indicated on the shoulder boards and collar tabs.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Convex, die struck alloy brooch. The 52mm diameter brooch features the letter "A" & "T" (Arbeids-Tjensten) and a sprig of barley to its center. This example is for the rank of Sveit Forer. Finished in a silver color. Rope style boarder around its circumference. Complete with original pin-back device.
