C023091 "THE ROYAL REGIMENT OF CANADA" CAP BADGE.
BACKGROUND: In 1936 the Royal Regiment of Toronto Grenadiers" was formed through amalgamation of "The Royal Grenadiers" and "The Toronto Regiment." By 1939 they were formally known as their present name. They are the largest army regiment of the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve. Their motto’s include: "I Serve", "Difficulties Be Damned", and "Shame to he who thinks evil of it."
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped cap badge with "The Royal Regiment of Canada" to the banners to the bottom. There are three mottos surrounding the central plume design which read "Nec aspera terrent (And difficulties do not daunt), "honi soit qui mal y pense (Shame to he who thinks evil of it) and "Ready aye ready". A pair of prongs and cotter pin are to the reverse. The badge measures approximately 4.5cm x 5.5cm with a slight backward bend to the badge.
