BACKGROUND: A wide variety of badges, both official and unofficial, were worn by Commonwealth soldiers throughout the war. Where they were worn on the uniform signified what they were for. Tradesman badges were worn on the right forearm, skill at arms badges on the left forearm and instructors on the arm towards the center or above the stripes for a sergeant but below the rank for a warrant officer.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Badge takes the form of two crossed signals flags. Machine embroidered on a khaki wool backing. The badge measures 6cm x 7.5cm with some mothing to the edges.
